JCCP has three simulators at its headquarters, which provide a virtual DCS (distributed control system), a control system commonly used for operational control in plants. Two of the simulators are connected to a miniature water tank model plant, and are used for process control lectures. The DCS features the latest technology, for true-to-life training in DCS configuration and functions.
The simulators are also connected to a computer that runs a dynamic simulation model, to provide simulated operations of representative refining process units, such as the CDU (crude oil distillation unit), REF (naphtha reformer unit), FCC (fluid catalytic cracking unit), hydrocracker, and R-FCC (residue oil fluid catalytic cracking unit). By practicing startup operations and adjusting operational conditions, participants can master various processes, as well as gain a better understanding of energy-saving and efficient operations.
