Course Title DCS Fundamentals and Applications

Objective To provide participants with a wide range of knowledge regarding the fundamentals and applications of DCS, modernization of instruments and improvements of process control

  1. DCS fundamentals
    • Outline of DCS
    • Configuration of DCS
    • How to maintain DCS
    • Basic process control theory using CAI
    • Basic process control practice using an actual DCS connected to a miniature plant
    • DCS engineering practice
  2. DCS applications
    • Introduction of new generation DCS
    • Introduction of a new operation support system
    • Introduction of alarm management
    • Ways to upgrade the conventional control system to DCS
    • Examples of APC applications
  3. Visit to:
    • a refinery
    • DCS manufacturers
Prerequisites Engineers in charge of DCS-related technology, process control or upgrading to DCS with a university degree, and at least three years’ experience, or others including engineers working in operation sections with equivalent qualifications
