Course Title Advanced Field Devices and Control

Objective To provide participants with a wide range of knowledge regarding advanced instrumentation including the latest DCS and field devices, safety instrumented systems, and various instrumentation control technology
Main Topics
  1. Advanced field devices and Control systems
    • Introduction of the latest field instruments
    • Introduction of Field bus and SIS
  2. Basic study of control
    • Control theory using CAI
    • PID tuning practice on a wet simulator with DCS
    • Typical control loop design in refining processes
    • Control valve selection
  3. Instrument maintenance
    • Failure reduction activity
    • DCS maintenance including Field bus
  4. Visit to:
    • a refinery
    • a diagnosis system vendor of rotating machines
    • instrument vendors
Prerequisites Engineers with at least three years’ experience in instrumentation and/or control and a university degree, or equivalent qualification
