Objectives
To develop problem-solving skills through an understanding of Japan’s history of struggle and efforts against environmental pollution.
Main Topics
Through an understanding of environmental conservation efforts in Japan’s oil industry, participants are expected to recognize the responsibility of national oil companies to create a better environment. They will also discuss possible solutions to environmental issues in their company and the role they themselves might play in solving those issues.
1. Environmental management in Japanese refineries
2. Air pollution monitoring
3. Countermeasures for oil contaminated soil and underground water
4. Case presentation and class discussion
Environmental issues and countermeasures in each company and the role of
each participant in addressing an environmental problem in their company
5. Visits to:
・Refinery
・Environment-related company
Environmental monitoring,
Wastewater treatment, waste disposal,
Analyzer manufacturer

Qualification
Engineers with a university degree or equivalent and at least five years’ experience in environmental management, or persons in charge of environmental regulations
