On 9th May, 2023, JCCP held a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OQ RPI & Plastics Downstream (OQ）to launch the technical cooperation project titled “Steam System Optimization Program (SSOP) Pilot Project at OQ (Oman)”. Mr. Kamil Al Shanfri – Managing Director OQ RPI & Plastics Downstream, OQ and Mr. Naoki Tomotake, Senior Counselor, JCCP signed the MOU.
Staffs from OQ RPI & Plastics Downstream Mr. Tetsuya Mita, Executive Officer, TLV International, INC., JCCP, participating companies, and other related persons, 20 in all, participated in this ceremony.
Mr. Kamil Al Shanfri, mentioned his sincere gratitude for Japan’s support for this project and expressed his hope that this project at the OQ Refinery will contribute to Oman’s goal of net zero carbon by 2050.
JCCP has implemented 20 projects in Oman since 1996. This project is the first SSOP project in Oman, demonstrating the effectiveness of SSOP, and a horizontal deployment of SSOP is also considered in the future. Implementation of this project is expected to contribute to a strengthening of the competitiveness of OQ. This project is scheduled for the period from FY 2023 to 2025.
