Meetings with Union Minister for Construction and Electricity and Energy (Myanmar) and other executives of national oil & gas companies

Myanmar went through a political transition from military to civil rule in March 2011, and subsequent democratization and liberation policies are gradually improving people’s lives. As a result, vehicle ownership and electricity consumption are also on the rise in the country, such that fuel supply cannot meet demand with existing refineries alone.
Until now, JCCP has provided wide-ranging support to Myanmar in the form of technical cooperation and training programs in response to requests from the country. However, to hereafter more clearly define what initiatives it seeks and how Japan’s petroleum industry may support those initiatives, an exchange of views was held with the Minister for Energy and Electric Power and executives of national oil and gas companies.

Mr. Win Khaing, Union Minister for Energy and Electric Power, and executives of oil, gas, and electric power companies expressed their appreciation for JCCP’s high-quality cooperation, and requested continued cooperation for the future. In response, JCCP members conveyed JCCP’s intent to continue providing programs that meet Myanmar’s requests.
