“The 19th Kuwait-Japan Joint Symposium” was held at Petroleum Research Center of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) on February 3 and 4, 2020. It was hosted by 4 entities namely KISR, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), the Japan Petroleum Institute (JPI), and JCCP.

In the opening of the symposium, opening remarks were addressed by Dr. Samira A.S. Omar, Director General, KISR, His Excellency Mr. Masato Takaoka, Japanese Ambassador to State of Kuwait, Mr. Eiji Hiraoka, Senior Managing Director of JCCP and Dr. Shinji Okazaki, Professor of Yokohama University. There were over 120 audiences including KISR researchers, KNPC staffs and Japanese companies’ representatives in the region.

The main theme was “Advancement in Petroleum Refining Industries” and there were 24 presentations which covered from Catalysts to Carbon Recycle and Corrosions, etc. Many questions and answers were actively exchanged.
