Ms. Aisha Sahar Al Kharusi, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, and a delegation from OQ Innovation research team visited JCCP headquarters in Ikebukuro, Tokyo on August 7, 2026.

On this occasion, a delegation from OQ visited Japan to conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of an R&D center integrating pilot testing and innovation functions to support the company’s long-term technology and innovation strategy. As part of these activities, they paid a visit to JCCP, accompanied by the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim.

To date, Oman and JCCP has received 703 trainees and dispatched 286 Japanese experts. In addition, 22 technical cooperation projects have been implemented (including two in this fiscal year). For this fiscal year, we plan to accept 15 participants in the regular course and 22 participants in the member company’s training program, and to dispatch five experts.

During the meeting, OQ explained the R&D center it is currently working to establish, while JCCP presented examples of how innovation support measures in Japan have led to Japan’s first groundbreaking product lines and emphasized the importance of collaboration among industry, academia, and government. In addition, a question-and-answer session was held regarding JCCP’s approach to R&D support and the utilization of its technical cooperation programs.

The Chargé d’Affaires raised questions regarding Japan’s oil procurement strategy in light of the situation in the Middle East, highlighted Oman’s competitive advantages in crude oil supply, and expressed a strong desire to strengthen bilateral relations.
