Course Title Environmental Management for Sustainability

Objective
To provide knowledge of environmental management in order to develop problem-solving skills and environmental management policies to realize sustainable social development
Main Topics
Through an understanding of environmental management efforts in Japan, participants will gain awareness of the role of national oil companies in sustainable social development. They will also discuss potential solutions to environmental issues in their
company and their respective roles in addressing those issues, and gain first-hand knowledge of the latest environmental policies and technologies through visits to research centers and manufacturers in Japan.

1. Environmental policies in Japan
2. Environmental management in Japanese refineries
3. CSR strategy of Japanese oil companies
4. International efforts for climate change
5. Carbon dioxide capture and storage (CSS) technology
6. Case presentation and class discussion
    ・Environmental issues and countermeasures in each company and the role of each participant in addressing those environmental issues
7. Visits to:
    ・Refineries
    ・Environment-related companies
        Environmental monitoring
        High-efficiency power generation
        Water treatment
        Waste disposal
Qualification
Managers and senior engineers with a university degree and at least five years’ experience in environmental management, or those with equivalent qualifications
