Objective | The objective of this course is to provide participants with the ability to develop measures to enhance the reliability of rotating equipment, by having them learn about the following issues: ・Technical elements that affect the reliability of rotating machinery, quality in the design and manufacturing process of rotating machinery ・Theoretical and practical information on reliability management ・Evaluation techniques necessary for judging abnormalities in rotating machinery |
Main Topics | 1. Lecture: ・Overview of the Japanese petroleum industry ・Japanese oil companies’ technical strategy regarding the reliability of rotating machinery ・Theoretical aspect of condition monitoring for rotating machinery 2. Site Visit: ・Condition monitoring specialist company (demonstration of condition monitoring for rotating machinery) ・Steam turbine & process pump manufacturers (technical requirements on process pumps and steam turbines) ・Gas turbine combined cycle manufacturers (gas turbine power generation technology demonstration plant for next-generation advanced combined cycle) ・Bearing manufacturer (selection criteria and maintenance practice of bearings) ・Mechanical seal manufacturer (reliability factors for pump seals and couplings) ・Maintenance service contractor (contractor’s responsibilities for inspection and maintenance work at refineries) ・Oil-refining company (general site inspection tour, information exchanges with refinery maintenance engineers) 3. Qualification | Mid-level mechanical engineers satisfying the following requirements; 1. Academic background: ・University degree in engineering (priority given to mechanical engineers) 2. Job experience: ・In the field of maintenance management and/or reliability engineering on rotary machinery at oil refinery or petrochemical plant ・5–10 years for participants from Gulf countries ・8–15 years for other participants |
